mammals of namdapha posters
05/10/2007

Tribal communities (especially hunters) living around the Namdapha National Park, have considerable knowledge of the forest and wildlife around them. But, there is lack of awareness and understanding about the reasons for creation of the park and its importance in preserving the unique wildlife heritage of the area. This set of five posters on the mammals of Namdapha was made primarily to create awareness and appreciation among communities living around the park of the diversity of Namdapha's wildlife and the threats they face due to hunting. Through these posters, we hope that we can contribute to increasing local awareness and pride regarding the park and its wildlife values. The set of 5 posters include larger herbivores, large and small carnivores, primates and other small mammals of Namdapha. The posters will be distributed free of cost in Arunachal Pradesh.

The pictures for the posters were generously contributed by a number of wildlife photographers and we would especially like to thank Kalyan Varma, Joanna Van Gruisen, Will Duckworth, Scott Roberton and Dr. G.S Rawat. The Disney Wildlife Conservation Fund and The Ford Foundation helped cover the costs of producing the posters.

A limited number of posters are available for sale to individuals. Price Rs. 250 (set of five). To make a purchase, please call or write to Rakhee at +91-821-2515601/ rakhee@ncf-india.org
