What We Do?

Rivers are dynamic ecosystems which experience seasonal changes leading to temporal differences in the resources available. Moving from the wet season to the dry season, the river characteristics change, likely affecting the river birds utilising particular stretches of the rivers. The main aim of this project is to understand how the river birds occupy and utilise the resources available over time and space. It could also highlight the specialist species within the community.

Why This Matters?

A better understanding of how each species utilizes the habitat over time will help with assessing how river birds track resources over time and space. The generalist-specialist species gradient will be made clear through this approach. Further, changes to the habitat could impact species highly dependent on specific resources which would be important to learn.
