Sitaram Mahato

Field Assistant, Nature-Mates, Eastern Himalaya

Sitaram has been working on the hornbill project at Buxa Tiger Reserve from the time it started in 2017. Having grown up at Buxa itself, he has a very deep rooted connection with the surrounding forests and wildlife. He has excellent observation skills and is a very quick learner. His field skills has greatly helped in shaping up the project. He is also very interested in plant taxonomy and can quickly retain identification keys and scientific names of plants. Sitaram is also quick to grasp any new technology/gadget used during field work. He is also very active in promoting conservation and environmental consciousness among his family and community members.
