I am an Engineer-MBA from Chennai, who moved away from a job in telecom, and quit that to start a communication and branding firm. Just around that time, a trip to Valparai and Topslip piqued my curiosity in birds. A Greater-racket-tailed Drongo I photographed there got me addicted to birds, and I started looking for birds around in and around the city when I got back. Though I love to travel for birding, I love patch birding, having documented and studied the patterns and behaviours of birds in a small urban lake for 6+ years. In addition to birding, I also love studying and learning about other wildlife and plants. Over the last 10+ years, as a side hustle, I have been creating environmental and nature awareness through social media, articles and through walks and talks. I love directly engaging with people through bird walks/talks and tree walks. In my tree walks, titled "Trees and Stories", in addition to science, I share trivia and stories from history, mythology and folklore, to make it more engaging and accessible to people.
My interest in birds, and nature in general and my work in communication, led me to State of India's Birds, where I will be working as a Communication Manager, with a goal of taking SoIB and MYNA to people across different backgrounds, through online and offline outreach activities and communication campaigns.
