Samakshi Tiwari

Project Coordinator, Education and Public Engagement

I began my formal research journey by studying birds in urban green spaces in Dehradun. After that, I briefly worked with the Black Kite project before joining the Reintroduction of Cheer Pheasants Program in Himachal Pradesh in 2019, where I contributed for a couple of years. I also worked as a research fellow on the Mangrove Monitoring in India project (under CIFOR-ICRAF), where we developed long-term monitoring sites in Coringa Wildlife Sanctuary, Andhra Pradesh, and the Sundarbans to identify mangrove patches resilient to sea level rise and those needing intervention. I am keen to understand biodiversity across landscapes and contribute to effective conservation efforts. Now, as the project coordinator for the Gap-filling Project, I am focused on documenting bird populations in relatively unexplored areas to support conservation and deepen the understanding of bird communities in these unique ecosystems.
