Research Assistant, Conservation Social Sciences

Sidak Kaur is a researcher, writer and avid storyteller, deeply interested in exploring and documenting living cultures as they intersect and converge in trans-Himalayan landscapes. At home in the field, while currently living and thinking in New Delhi, her research has sought to deconstruct the interplay of nostalgia, memory and identity in Ladakh as soil for renegotiating the transformation of structures of the past as they continue to exist in the present, with scope to further explore cultural reproduction and the persistence of the mutable beyond rupture. Beyond research, she finds herself curious about the wonder and beauty in the slowness of everyday life and rituals. When not working, you can find her travelling in remote lands, huddled up in a bookshop or fumbling through her yoga practice!
