Academic Co-ordinator

We are inviting applications for the position of Academic Co-ordinator for NCF’s PhD program and capacity-building efforts in conservation leadership. This position will be responsible for the co-ordination and administration of the PhD program and institutional level capacity-building efforts. Science plays a fundamental role in the conservation work of NCF. Our PhD program forms a cornerstone of the science being done at NCF. We also envision developing the capabilities of non-PhD researchers/core conservation staff with similar learning opportunities and offering conservation leadership courses that benefits practitioners beyond NCF. The Academic Co-ordinator is expected to play a managerial role for our existing PhD program, and the capacity-building and skill development courses for conservation practitioners and work closely in assisting the Academic Dean and NCF’s scientists in running this program.

The specific roles and responsibilities for this position are:

  • Co-ordinate with the Academic Dean, resource people and faculty during the PhD coursework, and develop reporting schedules for all aspects of the training.

  • Co-ordinate with the Academic Dean, NCF’s Student Affairs Committee, PhD supervisors and doctoral committees on all matters related to PhD students’ course work and progress.

  • Co-ordinate with the Academic Dean and Scientists in organising periodic skill development courses and workshops for registered PhD students & non-PhD research and conservation staff.

  • Co-ordinate entry and exit procedures for PhD students with Manipal Academic of Higher Education including but not limited to keeping track of procedures, sending timely reminders to PhD students and advisors regarding deadlines, and troubleshoot.

  • Co-ordinating reports to Manipal Academy of Higher Education and to donors as required.Keep track of students’ progress/reporting timelines.

  • Communicate within the institution and outside regarding announcements of courses, announcing thesis defence, and responding to all queries related to this position.

Qualifications:

The applicant must be an Indian citizen and have:

  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people, excellent oral and written communication and people skills.

  • Experience in co-ordinating an academic or training programme.

  • A Master’s degree.

  • Proficiency in English.
