Academic Coordinator 

Applications are invited for the position of Academic Coordinator for NCF’s School for Science and Conservation (SSC). SSC comprises of NCF’s doctoral programme affiliated to the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), and annual Courses in Conservation Leadership for conservation practitioners. The Academic Coordinator shall assist the Academic Dean in implementing all the academic and training activities at SSC. Read more about the programme here

 

The specific roles and responsibilities for this position are: 

·       Assist in the admission process of the doctoral programme and conservation capacity building courses, including advertising, screening and shortlisting candidates, organising interviews and joining of students

·       Schedule requested meetings with students, faculty and the Student Affairs committee, support agenda creation and communicate agendas, and document and publish minutes

·       Planning and developing course schedules, maintenance of course related web sites, social media updates and student records (reports, DAC meetings, presentations, evaluations etc.)

·       Communicating regularly with the students/practitioners, faculty members/external resource persons and MAHE as required by the academic and training schedule

·       Support the financial aspects of the programme, including handling, documenting and reporting all purchases related to payments, travel and accommodation of students and faculty as required, and any other expenses related to the programme

·       Assist the Academic Dean in compiling and editing proposals and reports to funding agencies 

·       Assist in all related programme tasks assigned by the Academic Dean

Eligibility requirements

·       Master’s degree from a recognised institution in India or abroad. 

·       Work experience of minimum 2-4 years in biodiversity-focused/academic organisations in project coordination and management.

·       Good communication and people skills  (written and spoken), especially in the English language. The coordinator will be communicating over emails and telephone with a diverse stakeholders including students, conservation practitioners, faculty members, institutional administration at NCF, MAHE doctoral offices and funding agencies. 

·       Very good organizational, multi-tasking and prioritising skills, and previous experience in coordinating similar activities. 

·       Basic computer skills (emails, MS office suite) and proficiency in using online conferencing and collaborative tools (Zoom, Skype, Google suite, Discord, Slack etc.). 

·       A background or interest in biodiversity, conservation and sustainability is highly desirable. 

We offer you an opportunity to work in a great work environment with wonderful colleagues and contribute to a growing capacity-building programme in interdisciplinary conservation. Salary will depend on qualifications and experience, roughly in the range of Rs. 46,000-55,000 per month. This is a full-time position, based at the Nature Conservation Foundation, Bangalore office, with some travel within Bangalore and across the country, as required.
