Rinchen Tobge

Field Technician, High Altitudes

My name is Rinchen. I am a farmer and resident of the village Kibber, and have been observing NCF's activities for a long time. After completing my +2 education, my love for wildlife led me to begin working with NCF in 2005. I have been involved in double observer surveys for animal abundance, interviews, plant transects, establishing and maintaining permanent vegetation plots, education camps, camera trapping etc., both near Kibber and all around the Spiti Valley. I travelled extensively for making the management plan for the upper Spiti landscape, and was a field assistant to Kulbhushansingh Suryawanshi for his PhD from 2010-2013. Since 2013, I've gotten more involved in the organization, taking on administrative tasks and continuing with the maintenance of previous projects. I really love studying and getting to know the wildlife and plants of my home, and look forward to learning much more in the coming years, together with everyone in NCF and my community.
