Position: Position: Research Affiliate for a collaborative Research Project on Nature Literacy and Attitudes among middle-high school students in India

We are looking for a person with a Masters Degree in any field, with an interest/ experience in conservation/ecology/wildlife and qualitative research methods and data analysis

Preferable Qualifications and Work Experience:

  • Master's degree with training/experience in qualitative research methods and data analysis;

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, ability and comfortable with working in teams;

  • Proficiency in English (writing and speaking), working knowledge of Hindi/Kannada/Tamil

  • Interest and knowledge in ecology, wildlife conservation, nature in the Indian context

Salary:

According to qualifications and experience (in the range of INR 32,000- 34,000 all inclusive before TDS) for full-time work. This is a one year funded collaborative project between Nature Conservation Foundation’s Nature Classrooms Team and the School of Arts and Sciences at Azim Premji University. The selected R.A’s affiliation will be APU and NCF. Project related travel and other costs will be reimbursed.

Location:

This full-time position will be primarily housed at the Nature Conservation Foundation (ncf-india.org), North Bengaluru office, with some travel within Bengaluru and across the country when needed and depending on the pandemic situation. You may be required to also work out of the APU Campus when needed.

You will be working closely with Vena Kapoor and Roshni Ravi from the NCF’s Nature Classrooms Project and Dr Kaustubh Rau, Assistant Professor at Azim Premji University, Bangalore. The project will also consult with other colleagues when required and the RA wll need to work closely with them as well.


More details about the position:
You will be part of a small but extremely enthusiastic team in the Nature Conservation Foundation’s Education and Public Engagement Programme. This research project is being supported by a one year research grant of APU and NCF’s Nature Classrooms project.

The R.A’s primary responsibility and deliverables will be to conduct interviews with young students (online and offline when possible), document, transcribe, code and analyse interview data and take the lead in report writing and peer reviewed papers for this project.

You will be required to help with logistical support for the project when needed and also help with other aspects of the programme like occasional workshops, public engagement events. Presentations to NCF and APU will need to be made before the end of the tenure.

Tenure: 1 year, with an initial 2 month probation period and occasional work reviews.
