Academic Assistant

Applications are invited for the position of Academic Assistant for NCF’s PhD programme and courses in conservation leadership. NCF’s academic activities include the doctoral programme affiliated to the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), training institutional staff and periodic courses in conservation leadership for conservation practitioners.

The Academic Assistant will be expected to assist the Academic Dean in implementing all the academic activities held by NCF. Read more about the programme here

 

The specific roles and responsibilities for this position are: 

·Assist in the admission process of the doctoral programme and conservation capacity building courses, including advertising, screening and shortlisting candidates, organising interviews and joining of students.

·Schedule requested meetings with students, faculty and the Student Affairs committee, support agenda creation and communicate agendas, and document and publish minutes.

·Planning and developing course schedules, maintenance of course related web sites, and student records.

·Communicating regularly with the students, faculty members/external resource persons and MAHE as required by the academic schedule. 

·Support the financial aspects of the programme, including handling, documenting and reporting all expenses related to the programme. 

·Making travel arrangements and facilitating field trips, as required, for the programme through liaising with government departments and institutions. 

·Assist the Academic Dean and Director of NCF in compiling and editing reports to funding agencies. 

·Assist in all related tasks assigned by the Academic Dean. 

Eligibility requirements

·Bachelor’s/Master’s degree from an accredited institution in India or abroad, with a strong professional work ethic

·Good communication and people skills  (written and spoken)., especially in the English language. The coordinator will be communicating over emails and telephone with a diverse stakeholders including students, faculty members, institutional administration at NCF, MAHE, funding agencies and forest department. 

·Very good organizational, multi-tasking and prioritising skills, and previous experience in coordinating similar activities. 

·Basic computer skills (emails, MS office suite) and online conferencing and collaborative tools (Zoom, Skype, Google suite, Discord, Slack etc.). 

·A general interest in biodiversity, conservation and sustainability and experience in coordinating similar programme is desirable. 

We offer you an opportunity to work in a great work environment with wonderful colleagues and contribute to a growing capacity-building programme in interdisciplinary conservation.  Salary will depend on your qualifications and experience, roughly in the range of Rs. 28,000 – 41,745 per month. You will be based at the Nature Conservation Foundation, North Bengaluru and Mysuru office, with some travel across the country, when required.
