Having been born and brought up in Chetlath island Lakshadweep, I hold these islands and its people very close to my heart. The lifestyle and culinary traditions I witnessed while growing up continue to inspire me and drive my interest in understanding and preserving them. After completing my Bachelor’s degree in Botany from University College, Kerala, I pursued a Diploma in Library Science from the State Central Library, which led to my role as Librarian at the Chetlath Island Public Library. I soon realized that my true calling lies beyond the four walls of a library. While exploring new opportunities, I learned about the amazing work being done by the Nature Conservation Foundation in the Lakshadweep Archipelago. This discovery deeply motivated me and inspired me to join NCF. Here at NCF, I work on understanding human-nature relationships within the archipelago, focusing on dietary and culinary practices, freshwater ecosystems, and how local communities utilize and sustain available resources. I also take part in community engagement programs that create space for conversations between researchers and local communities about living well on the islands. Being able to study my own homeland from a new perspective and contribute to its documentation and preservation brings me immense joy and pride. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with friends, cheering for Bayern Munich, and exploring new places.
