Project Assistant, Oceans and Coasts

I am from Kadmath Island, Lakshadweep. I am passionate about working with the community, especially in communicating science and its different engagements. I hold a Master's degree in Mass Communication and Journalism, and for my postgraduate thesis, I carried out the first study on the declining popularity of newspapers in Lakshadweep, exploring a side of island life that had not been looked at before. During my Master's programme, I also directed a documentary titled "Gold on Rocks", about mussel farming along the Malabar coast. At NCF, I work on community engagement, spending time with people across the islands. As someone from Lakshadweep, this is also my day-to-day life; I now have one more lens to look at my everyday relationship with the place I live in, a scientific one, alongside my lived experience. I bring both these lenses to community engagement in Lakshadweep. Outside of work, I am an active badminton player.
