I am a behavioural ecologist trained to understand why animals behave the way they do and how their surroundings shape those behaviours. A lifelong curiosity for nature, from wondering why frogs croak to how flowers attract butterflies — set me on this path early on.
I studied Zoology at Garware College (Pune) and completed an MSc in Evolutionary and Behavioural Ecology at the University of Exeter (England). My work has taken me from studying spiders, chinkaras and tadpoles in India to observing giraffes and working with meerkats in South Africa, including a year with the Kalahari Meerkat Project. I later completed my PhD at the Centre for Ecological Sciences, IISc Bangalore, focusing on the behaviour of female Peninsular Rock Lizards. In 2020, I founded Ecology Explained to make ecological research in India more accessible and to share the joy of observing nature.
I currently work as a Programme Manager at the Nature Conservation Foundation (NCF), where I develop learning experiences as part of the Education and Public Engagement team. My work includes designing workshops, engaging with college students and corporate groups through nature based activities, and building resources that help people engage with biodiversity in meaningful, approachable ways. When I’m not working, I am likely to be found with my family and friends or enjoying a Bollywood movie.
